Op-ed: "Cervical Cancer Elimination is Possible if We Choose Equity"

GWHT Director Nimmi Ramanujam and Assistant Director Brian Crouch recently contributed to Resolve Global Health’s latest report, "Reflecting Reality: A closer look at women and non-communicable diseases."
Despite being one of the leading cause of death for women worldwide, NCD’s remain underfunded, underdiagnosed, and underserved—especially for women in low- and middle-income countries.
Dr. Ramanujam and Dr. Crouch's op-ed argues that cervical cancer elimination is within reach, but only if we choose equity. Despite being preventable, millions of women still die from cervical cancer because life-saving vaccines, screenings, and treatments remain out of reach in low-resource settings. Innovative, community-driven models like the HOPE initiative in Peru show what is possible when women are given the tools and support they deserve.
Timely diagnosis, equitable treatment, and inclusive care must be the norm, not the exception.
