GWHT PhD Student Katie Broun received the James Fife Fellowship from Tau Beta Pi (TBP), The Engineering Honors Society.

The Fellowship provides funding for Broun's research and coursework for the 2025-2026 academic year. Katie is one of thirty-one graduate students nationwide to be part of the upcoming academic year's cohort of TBP Fellows. Her research is working to build a low-cost optical toolkit to study breast cancer metabolism in three-dimensional cellular models to compare metabolic changes with patient outcomes.

Founded in 1885 at Lehigh University, Tau Beta Pi is the only academic honors society to serve all engineering disciplines.
